Client Courtyard Design, Rondebosch, South Africa

This Client had an Atrium within her house and it was grey, dull and she wanted a change. The photo below is before, you can't see the water feature.

This courtyard is the before we did anything photo. It was all extremely grey! Such a lovely area which deserved a face-lift. So a plan was made...

Before above

Took up the paving stones, re-laid with 3 mm space in between and planted plugs of Viola hederacea and added small brown gravel. Mirrors were placed either side of the water feature behind two pots of Calemondin fruit topiaries giving light and depth to the Atrium. Re-planted the pots and placed them strategically changing the ambiance of the entire atrium as to somewhere you really want to sit and be peaceful, surrounded by beauty.

Painting effects quickly changed the courtyard to be eye catching. We chose a blush pink to paint the walls, to give warmth.   The client is an artist and managed to create painting effects on the waterfall to make it truly shout out!

This courtyard now looks alive. Lemons on left in pots, Viola hederacea planted inbetween pavers, walls are painted a warm and welcoming blush pink, water feature
The water feature now stands out with clever touches of shades of grey, the pots were there with Calemondins, we placed two mirrors behind each one that made the entire courtyard more lengthy and open, behind planted Solanum jasminoides and a trellis for them both to climb.
Lemon trees planted in npots with a horizontol trellis behind where there is Tracelospermum jasminoides growing along.

Beautiful pots with climbing pink roses, Succulents against the rosy wall full of cheer!
A little bit of paint and creativity has brought this waterfall back to life, with Dietes bicolour in the water
The pavers clearly show here, compost was added and then plugs of the Viola hederacea
Lemon trees, Trachelospermum jasminoides, blush pink walls, river stones in the pots and looks lovely!
